The Shuttered Room (1967)
Directed by David Greene
Quick Hit
The Shuttered Room earns its rating on execution rather than legend. Atomic-age nerves help more than the effects.
Full Take
The movie is easiest to judge through execution: composition, rhythm, and payoff. The visual logic holds up better than some of the narrative shortcuts. British genre discipline gives the film a cleaner shape than many of its pulp peers. The concept is only as strong as the clarity of its escalation. Overall, that places it in SOLID.
