The Ruse (2025)
Directed by Stevan Mena
Quick Hit
The Ruse leans into tension and unpredictability, delivering a solid genre hit.
Full Take
The Ruse builds atmosphere with a steady hand, mixing suspense and character pressure into something that keeps you locked in. It’s not reinventing the genre, but it delivers enough intensity and style to make it worth your time.

I actually agree with this take. It’s not perfect but it definitely delivers in key moments.
Kinda mixed but I get the appeal.

solid 👍
I’m more negative on The Ruse than the review is. It has a setup that sounds better on paper than it plays on screen. The pacing kept sagging just when it needed momentum, which made the whole thing feel longer than it was. A couple cool ideas can’t save the overall experience.

There’s a lot to like here, but also a lot that holds it back from being great.
