The Premature Burial (1962)
Directed by Roger Corman
Quick Hit
The Premature Burial throws horror on screen with real nerve, but the finish is underpowered. A decent premise gets left on the table.
Full Take
The setup has teeth; the payoff decides whether it bites. When the rhythm drags or the trick is obvious, it starts leaking air fast. Once the mood is set, everything comes down to whether the film can cash in its own setup. The set pieces are what matter, and this one gets some mileage out of them. That’s the difference between a curiosity and a real hit.
