The Ghost (1963)
Directed by Riccardo Freda
Quick Hit
The Ghost has feeling in the dark corners, which keeps it comfortably above water. Style keeps the blood warm.
Full Take
This one lives in atmosphere first and story second, which can be a blessing or a problem. If the characters donโt pull you in, the style can only carry so much weight. Italian horror style carries a lot of the value here: texture, atmosphere, and a taste for beautiful decay. The haunting works because loss is sitting right under the surface. That keeps it from greatness, but not from mattering.
