The Brainiac (1961)
Directed by Chano Urueta
Quick Hit
The Brainiac throws horror on screen with real nerve, but the finish is shaky. There’s some life in it, but not enough.
Full Take
This one swings hard at horror and only sometimes connects. The craft is either locked in or hanging by a thread, and this movie knows it. Once the mood is set, everything comes down to whether the film can cash in its own setup. The set pieces are what matter, and this one gets some mileage out of them. That keeps it stuck at BAD.
