❌
Seconds (1966)
Directed by John Frankenheimer
Quick Hit
Seconds has a clean hook and some atmosphere but not enough follow-through, which keeps it well below the line. A decent premise gets left on the table.
Full Take
The setup has teeth; the payoff decides whether it bites. The craft is either locked in or hanging by a thread, and this movie knows it. Once the mood is set, everything comes down to whether the film can cash in its own setup. The set pieces are what matter, and this one gets some mileage out of them. That’s the difference between a curiosity and a real hit.
