Nightmare Castle (1965)
Directed by Mario Caiano
Quick Hit
Nightmare Castle throws horror on screen with real nerve, but the finish is underpowered. Style keeps the blood warm.
Full Take
You can feel the movie reaching for a hit from frame one. It lives or dies on execution, not reputation, and that matters here. Italian horror style carries a lot of the value here: texture, atmosphere, and a taste for beautiful decay. The set pieces are what matter, and this one gets some mileage out of them. That keeps it stuck at BAD.
