My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Directed by George Mihalka
Quick Hit
My Bloody Valentine comes off like a blade-forward slasherāblue-collar, mean, while the pressure keeps climbing.
Full Take
My Bloody Valentine leans hard into slasher energy, and George Mihalka keeps the tone blue-collar without letting the movie drift. The filmmaking is locked in, the atmosphere is doing real work, and the payoff earns the damage. Not flawless, but the swing is worth it.

Iām somewhere in the middle on My Bloody Valentine. It has enough atmosphere and intent to make sense as a recommendation. The movie has stretches where it really works, then other stretches where it slips out of your hands. So yeah, I respect it more than I love it.

Kinda mixed but I get the appeal.

Thereās a lot to like here, but also a lot that holds it back from being great.
