Mantis in Lace (1968)
Directed by William Rostler
Quick Hit
Mantis in Lace has a clean hook and isolated moments that almost save it, which keeps it well below the line. There’s some life in it, but not enough.
Full Take
This one swings hard at horror and only sometimes connects. The craft is either locked in or hanging by a thread, and this movie knows it. Once the mood is set, everything comes down to whether the film can cash in its own setup. The set pieces are what matter, and this one gets some mileage out of them. That’s enough to push it into BAD.
