Downhill (1927)
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock
Quick Hit
Privilege rots fast once Hitchcock starts kicking the ladder away.
Full Take
Downhill is a punishment march, dragging its golden boy through scandal, shame, and exhaustion until the polish burns off. The film can be blunt, but its descent has real force, and the visual handling of humiliation is already distinctly Hitchcockian. Mean in a good way.

Ace don’t miss on this one
I honestly think this is elite. It might not be perfect, but it does so many things right that it doesn’t matter.

This sticks with you. The atmosphere and direction carry it hard and make it feel special.
