Blood and Black Lace (1964)
Directed by Mario Bava
Quick Hit
Blood and Black Lace has a clean hook and enough craft to carry the premise, which keeps it comfortably above water. Style keeps the blood warm.
Full Take
There’s a real hook here, but the follow-through decides the damage. When the image is sharp and the menace is clean, it lands. Italian horror style carries a lot of the value here: texture, atmosphere, and a taste for beautiful decay. The set pieces are what matter, and this one gets some mileage out of them. That’s enough to push it into SOLID.

Kinda mixed but I get the appeal.
I actually agree with this take. It’s not perfect but it definitely delivers in key moments.

I’m in the middle on this one. There are definitely some strong moments, but also parts that didn’t fully connect.
This didn’t really land for me overall, but I can see why some people like it.

There’s a lot to like here, but also a lot that holds it back from being great.
